Resumen Protecting the privacy of user’s personal data in Location Based Services has become a challenge, as the Service Provider needs this information in order to provide the service. An approach to provide privacy is through anonymity, by hiding the identity and location of the mobile device from the Service Provider or from any unauthorized party who has access at the user’s request, in such a way that the service can still be provided. Considering the afore mentioned, this paper gives a survey on the solutions that provide privacy through anonymity proposed in previous works, and presents a new solution using a hybrid approach: blind signatures to hide user’s real identity and spatial cloaking to hide user’s exact location. This new hybrid solution seeks to provide anonymity of the mobile user without making any changes on the Location Based Service Provider; the user’s mobile device or Trusted Third Party Servers will handle transformations made to the original request.
